What we hold ourselves to, and how to tell us we missed.

Our target

We build to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is the standard referenced by Section 508 and by the Department of Justice's Title II rule for state and local government web content, and it is the bar we design client systems against from the start rather than remediating before launch.

What we have verified on this site

Checked across every page, by measurement rather than assumption:

• Text and interface colours meet or exceed AA contrast. Body copy runs above 7:1 — the AAA threshold — on every background we use.
• A skip link lets keyboard users bypass the navigation on every page.
• One h1 per page, with heading levels in order and no skipped ranks.
• Every form field has a real, programmatically associated label. No placeholder-only inputs.
• The site is fully operable by keyboard, including the navigation menus, with a visible focus indicator that meets the 3:1 non-text contrast requirement.
• Menus close on Escape and return focus predictably.
• Content reflows without horizontal scrolling down to a 320px viewport.
• Animation is suppressed for anyone who sets prefers-reduced-motion, and no content depends on JavaScript to become visible.
• Images carry meaningful alternative text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.

What we have not done

This is a self-assessment. We have not commissioned a third-party audit of this site, and we do not currently publish a VPAT or Accessibility Conformance Report for it. We would rather say that plainly than imply a credential we do not hold.

For client engagements, conformance targets, testing method and any required VPAT are agreed in the contract and delivered as part of the work. Ask us and we will put it in writing.
